I have the same problem as yours, there seems no change in A-map, maybe the creator haven't created the patch correctly.

Is Firered USA the base of the hack? I have patched the patch on it but there seems no change.......

Sorry, as a matter of fact I did a silly thing. Thank you for your help & sorry for wasting your time. :(
Actually I made it myself by luck and I'm not sure if the palette file is right. Anyway, I can give it to you for test. After my test, I found that color 11~15 didn't matter so I didn't leave them blue. Maybe you could go to Jota for help as he used the VS bar hack in his awesome hack.

Which one? There're several "applymovement 0x8". (Only @move8 & @move9 didn't work, they were both related to the number 10 OW (0xA))
For the flag case, I got the range of usable flag last summer but now I forgot where to find it. :s I think...
